Catching terrorists with a net?
I've heard a few stories about how a little monkey can outwit bigger and supposedly more intelligent human beings like us, but it was the first time today that I was so close to that monkey.
I was at Shibuya station on my way to work, minding my own business & trying not to let other people get in my way so that I could at least arrive at the office less than 5 minutes late. As I approached the flight of steps to go down, I saw a crowd of curious passerbys surrounding probably the whole unit of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Force (hah....I just made the name up to make it sound important) and reporters equipped with microphones & video cameras waiting for something below.
I walked past slowly trying to figure out what was happening. Terrorism was the first thing that crossed my mind. Suicide the second. Or another killing massacre? But there wasn't any action except for the police shouting at everyone not to block the passage & to keep on walking. And in the middle of all the non-action was a huge green net. I looked up expecting to see something, but all there was was the glass-roofed ceiling. Nothing worth getting excited about.
Reminding myself that I was going to be 5 minutes late for work, I left the scene behind thinking to myself: what the hell is going on?
When I reached the office, I heard from my colleague - There's a loose Japanese (or snow) monkey in Shibuya station. Damn & I failed to spot that monkey!
See if you can spot it for yourself. WARNING: The video is of poor quality though.
