The performer

When u're teaching, it can be similar to giving a performance. There's a lot of planning involved. Although, i only teach a few hours a day, a lot of time goes into planning at the end of the lessons. It doesn't have to be very structured/You can just run through the lessons and activities in your head. U also have to imagine the worst.....what if it doesn't work out? Will the students get bored? Is it too easy or difficult? What should i do next if it fails? I'm very busy thinking about all these especially when i'm on the bus home. For a polished performance, practise n preparation are important. But it's unrealistic for a teacher to rehearse every lesson that she's going to have. Besides, u'll never know what your supporting actors will spring onto you! But i do panick when i'm not prepared for a lesson....my instructions n speech becomes hazy. During these times, i've to rely on giving them lots of written work to save my butt! But i'll feel guilty of short-changing my students by putting on such a poor performance.

A performance is also emotional. It's emotional having to teach little kids. Frustration forms a big part. Affection. Irritation. Amazement?? If you can call it an emotion. Burderned with responsibility. And there are emotions that u have to fake too...when u want to influence or coerce the kids into doing what you want.

I wanted to write about my day but i ended up writing an essay. Actually, all i wanted to say is i had to pretend to be a mouse, snake, pig, Spanish dancer, popcorn, ants n a dog with the P2 today TWICE. And i'm exhausted!!! That's me being emotional.
